Family Names Are Carried Forward

Anna Matilda 

         There’s one thing I like about our family – we keep the old names alive. My Mormor, her name was Anna Matilda, and my mother was Elin Matilda. Then there was Sara Matilda.

And with Anna, my sister was Anna Brita, and in Rimforsa, there was AnnaLisa. And then Margaretha’s girl AnnCathrine; Ann is a form of Anna. And Birgitta’s girl is Anna.

Then there’s my Farmor; her name was Helena

Helena Sofia

Sofia. Midi was Midi Sofia. I am Gunborg Sofia, and Elizabeth is Elizabeth Sofia, and Ingalena’s girl is Sofie. Helena was brought on by Margaretha naming her daughter Helene. Farmor’s sister was named Anna Lovisa, so there is the name Lovisa that Henrik Boberg gave to his daughter.

        Farfar’s father was named Karl Johan. Farfar was Johan August.
Papa was Thor Johan. My oldest brother was Johan Henrik and Jim is James Johan. Papa’s first name was Thor and he had a first cousin in Kingsburg who was also named Thor. That continues with Sara’s son whose name is Thorbjörn and then Jim named his littlest boy Thorbjörn too. 

        Then there are the Elins. Mama was Elin Matilda. Margaretha was Elin Margaretha. Elizabeth’s daughter’s name is Amanda Elin. Gunilla named her daughter Elin, and Magnus Boberg named his daughter Elin. Magnus’ Elin was born on my 75th birthday. AnnCathrine’s daughter is Caroline Elin. So that name goes on too.
